The newsletter is the product
Distribution stopped being a channel and became the asset. Here is how to treat it like one.
Owning attention is now the scarcest position in any market. Platforms rent it to you at a price that rises every year, and they can change the terms overnight. A list is the only inventory you keep.
Treating a newsletter as a product means it gets a roadmap, a quality bar, and an honest retention metric. Open rate is vanity if the people opening it are not the people you want in the room.
The best-performing editorial programmes I have seen share one trait: a named human point of view, published on a schedule the audience can feel. Everything else, design, cadence, format, is negotiable.
